UNC Asheville Hosts Multiple Promotions in Final Big South Conference Home Series

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For its final Big South Conference home series of the season, the UNC Asheville baseball team hosts a three-game set versus High Point.
The series begins on Friday, May 11, at 6 p.m. at Greenwood Field.

Weekend Promotions
Friday: The series opener versus High Point is Fan Friday. We will recognize all of our fans for their support this season with a lot of prizes and fun throughout the game.
Saturday: Saturday will serve as Senior Day, as UNC Asheville will honor its four graduating seniors - Jordan Fulbright, Nick Boyles, Jesse Juday and Joe Zayatz.
The game will also be Sandlot Saturday, as we invite all kids to join us after the game for a throwing session with the team.
Also on Saturday, it will be Mike Gore Appreciation Day. We will honor the legendary UNC Asheville Sports Information Director. Gore is the first Sports Information Director to be inducted in to the Big South Conference Hall of Fame.
Sunday: The series finale will serve as Mother's Day, as we will recognize the baseball player's moms prior to the contest.
About the Bulldogs
UNC Asheville enters the final home Big South series with a 12-33 overall record and a 7-14 mark in league play.
In its last conference series (versus Gardner-Webb), the Bulldogs won the series by taking Saturday's contest and the series finale at Greenwood Field.
During that series, four Bulldogs - Chris Troost, Tyler Serricchio, Danny Wilson and Zayatz - all connected with five hits each. Wilson had three extra-base hits versus the Runnin' Bulldogs. The junior utility also had four RBIs and three runs scored. Zayatz connected with a pair of doubles and touched home twice, and Troost and Serricchio combined for three runs scored in the series.
Greg Gasparro led the starting pitching staff versus Gardner-Webb, as he was named the Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore left-handed pitcher twirled 5.2 innings, scattered four hits and didn't allow a run.
Fulbright had a strong relief appearance in the series, where he tossed five frames, allowed three hits, struck out three and didn't allow an earned run. Austin Fahr posted two relief appearances versus GWU, and the right-handed pitcher totaled 2.1 innings, allowed one hit and struck out a pair of Runnin' Bulldogs.
Scouting High Point
The Panthers enter the weekend series with a 25-20 overall record and a 13-8 mark in Big South games. In its last five games, HPU is 3-2 with wins over Elon, Campbell and Wake Forest.
The High Point offense is led by senior infielder Hunter Lee. He leads the offense in batting average (.359), hits (61), doubles (11), RBIs (35), total bases (92), walks (35) and on-base percentage (.476). Along with his 11 doubles, he has six home runs and a triple.
Tanner Wells is the team's second-leading hitter, as he sports a .343 batting average in 37 games played. He has 37 total hits, four doubles and three home runs. Austen Zente has the highest slugging percentage at .560, as he has connected with a team-leading 11 homers.
High Point's most consistent starting pitcher is Andrew Gottfried, as he has started 11 games this year. He sports a 3.81 ERA and has a 4-5 record. He has twirled 56.2 total frames and has struck out 59 opponents.
The bullpen for High Point is the biggest threat, as it has six relievers with a 3.37 ERA or lower on the year. Rion Murrah is the team's go-to reliever, as he has appeared in 19 games. He sports a 1.93 ERA and a 3-2 record. He has four saves and has tossed 42 frames while striking out 47. Jonny Vizcaino has the team's second-lowest ERA, as he has a 2.83 ERA. He has four wins in 11 appearances, and he has struck out 23 batters in 28.2 innings.
