ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville baseball welcomes Gardner-Webb to Asheville, as the two Bulldog squads square off in a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 27, at Greenwood Field.
Weekend on Promotions
Friday: Friday's contest serves as the "Fill the Hill" game, as we pack the outfield lawn with music, tailgating games and free Bulldog Baseball t-shirts.
Saturday: Saturday's game is the Autism Speaks Blueout. We are teaming up with Alpha Xi Delta to raise funds and awareness for their national philanthropy.
Sunday: The series finale serves as Bark at the Park. Rocky invites all of his furry friends to attend the game on Sunday. All dogs will have toys and snacks available at the Puppy Playground down the left field line.

Friday: So. RHP Blake Brown (0-4, 6.23 ERA) vs. R-So. RHP Langdon Wilson (1-0, 3.97 ERA)
Saturday: So. LHP Greg Gasparro (1-6, 4.84 ERA) vs. Sr. RHP Bradley Hallman (3-0, 3.70 ERA)
Sunday: TBD vs. Jr. LHP Aaron Stewart (0-0, 12.27 ERA)
About the Bulldogs
UNC Asheville enters the weekend series with a 10-30 overall record and a 5-13 mark in Big South Conference games.
Danny Wilson leads the UNC Asheville offense with a .276 batting average, as he has four doubles, 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Right behind him is Carmine Pagano, who totes a .274 batting average. The junior shortstop connected with three hits in the mid-week contest versus NC Central, which raised his batting average by 10 points.
Last weekend at Winthrop, eight pitchers posted scoreless relief appearances for Asheville. Austin Fahr appeared in two games and only allowed a hit in 2.2 innings of work. Jordan Fulbright had the longest relief outing for Asheville, as the senior twirled 3.2 innings and struck out five Eagles. Jesse Juday recorded a scoreless appearance as well, which included holding the Eagles hitless in 2.1 innings of work.
In home contests this year, Wilson leads the Bulldogs, as he has a .381 batting average in 11 starts. He has 16 total hits to go along with eight RBIs. Brandon Lankford has been successful at Greenwood Field, as he has connected with 14 hits (10 extra-base hits) en route to plating 10 RBIs.
On the hill, UNC Asheville has six pitchers who sport a 3.18 ERA or lower at home. Cody Wilson, Ethan Tressler and Joe Zayatz have not allowed a run in seven combined appearances, as the trio have also tallied five strikeouts. Juday has appeared in six games, where he has struck out three batters and holds a 2.08 ERA. Beau Nichols and Eric Whitecavage round out the strong outings for Asheville at home, as Nichols sports a 3.00 ERA and Whitecavage has a 3.18 ERA.
Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs
Gardner-Webb enters the weekend series with a 25-18 overall record and a 10-8 mark in league games. The Runnin' Bulldogs currently own a four-game win streak with victories over Presbyterian and Appalachian State.
Gardner-Webb has a strong offense, as it hits at a .281 clip. It averages 9.42 hits and 6.47 runs per contest. The Runnin' Bulldogs are also a home run heavy squad, as they average 1.02 home runs a game. Leading the power surge is Chandler Redmond, who has connected with 12 homers this season. Along with Redmond, three other Runnin' Bulldogs – Chris Clary, Mickey Dugan and Mason Fox – have connected with six or more homers this year.
Clary, who has eight homers, leads the GWU offense with a .351 batting average in 37 appearances. Carey Howard has 15 extra-base knocks, including a team-leading 12 doubles. He sports a .341 batting average in 32 starts. Dugan is also hitting above .325, as he has a .329 batting average. Dugan has seven home runs to go along with 33 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
GWU will send out two strong starting pitchers on Friday and Saturday in Langdon Wilson and Ballman. Both have combined for nine starts this year, as each have a sub-4.00 ERA on the year. Hallman has a 3.70 ERA in six starts this year for Gardner-Webb. He has worked 41.1 innings and has allowed 17 earned runs. Langdon Wilson has started three games this year and has a 3.97 ERA. He has worked 22.2 innings and has limited opponents to a .207 batting average. Wil Sellers is GWU's key reliever, as he has appeared in 12 games and has four saves in 21 innings of work.
