NOTABLES
-Winthrop outshot Asheville 22-12 overall, with 14 of those shots coming in the second half as they rallied.
-Zach Joens scored Asheville's first goal of the night, his sixth of the season, off of a free kick in the 31st minute that hit the top crossbar and back down across the goal line.
-Joens finished with eight of Asheville's 12 total shots, five of which were on goal.
-Joe LaCasto's first goal of the season came less than one minute into the second half and pushed the Bulldog lead to what was at the time a 2-0 advantage.

QUOTABLES
“Absolutely gutted by the loss tonight. I thought we were the better side for about 65 minutes or so and we had plenty of chances to score a third goal, or maybe even a fourth, but we showed a lack of maturity when those chances came and we didn't finish them. Winthrop is undefeated in conference play for a reason, and we allowed them to hang around. They say 2-0 is the most dangerous lead in soccer and full credit to Winthrop. I thought once they got their first goal they were the better side. Obviously disappointed for our guys because I thought there were real chances in the first 60 minutes or so for us to effectively end the game by scoring a third and fourth goal and that our football in the first 60 minutes was phenomenal.” - Head Coach Mathes Mennell
UP NEXT
-Following tonight's loss, the Bulldogs conclude their three-game road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 20, traveling to Williamsburg, Va., to take on William & Mary at 7 p.m. Asheville returns home next Saturday, October 24 to host Liberty.
