WILLIAMSBURG, VA – William & Mary notched three goals in the game's opening 21 minutes on Tuesday night as the UNC Asheville men's soccer team fell 4-2 on the road in Williamsburg.
THE TURNING POINT
William & Mary brothers William and Jackson Eskay scored the opening two goals of the night in the 14th and 17th minute to push the hosts out to their lead.
NOTABLES
-Sophomore Victor Aguiar scored his first goal of the season via a great shot from 25 yards out in the 36th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1 at the half.
-Sophomore Ben Chapel tapped home the night's final goal into an empty net with under a minute to play after the ball got away from the William & Mary goalkeeper. The goal was Chapel's second of the season and was assisted by Grady Bradshaw.
-The Bulldogs were outshot 24-5 in the loss. Goalkeeper Tyler Moore finished with six total saves after getting the start.
-Each of Asheville's five shots were taken by a different player (Andrew Lawrence, Zach Compton, Bradshaw, Aguiar, Chapel).
UP NEXT
-Following tonight's loss, the Bulldogs return home to host Liberty on October 24. The game will be part of a doubleheader with the UNC Asheville women's team, with the women playing at 4:30 p.m. and the men's kicking off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m.
