CLINTON, N.C.  – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team dropped a 53-51 decision to Big South Conference foe Presbyterian College on Monday evening as the Bulldogs could never get their offense on track against the stingy Blue Hose defense.

Grace Blaylock led the team in scoring with 12 points after connecting on 4-of-8 three-pointers on the night. Kendall Shepard also scored in double figures posting 11 points while Lindsey Montgomery posted a game-high nine rebounds. The Bulldogs fall to 9-11 overall on the year with a 2-6 mark in the Big South.

“We had some opportunities to tie the game or take the lead but we just didn't get the job done,” said Asheville head coach Betsy Blose. “This is a game we really needed to get. We weren't executing our offense early on – we just have to be more disciplined on offense.”

The Blue Hose were led offensively by Mariah Pietrowski who scored a game-high 13 points. Amanda Mills scored nine points for PC including two 3-pointers with under two minutes to play to help secure the victory. Presbyterian improves to 6-14 while moving to 3-5 in conference play.

The Bulldogs got off to a sluggish start in the first half, connecting on only 6-of-23 field goal attempts. Blaylock led the team in scoring with a pair of trey's, finishing the frame with six points. The Blue Hose didn't fair much better, connecting on only 9-of-27 shot attempts. Pietrowski led PC in scoring in the first half with nine points.

In the second half the Blue & White showed improvement shooting the ball, connecting on 55 percent of their shots. Asheville just couldn't close the gap on the Blue Hose over the final frame as the Bulldogs dropped their 11th game of the season.

Asheville will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs hit the road to take on Big South foe Radford in a contest set to begin at 3 p.m. Currently the Highlanders sit atop the league's standings and defeated Asheville earlier this season, 81-69, at the Justice Center.
