The Panthers (13-7, 6-1 BSC) won for the ninth time in their last 10 games. The Bulldogs (6-14, 1-6 BSC) lost their sixth straight conference games.
Asheville was led by Lindsey Montgomery with another double-double. She scored 15 points and collected 18 rebounds. It was the junior forward's eighth double-double of the season. Lindsey Thompson added 13 points, while Chioma Okoli had her second straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
High Point had Jurica Hargraves with 14 points. Frances Field finished with 10 points. Mackenzie Maier had six blocked shots for the visitors.
The Panthers took control of the game late in the first half and early in the second half. The Bulldogs were within 32-26 with 2:40 to before High Point scored the final 10 points to lead 42-26 at halftime. Maier scored five quick points to get the run started, and Fields finished it with a three-point play with 40 seconds to go in the half. Asheville went 0-for-6 from the field and had three turnovers in the run.
Dodd had a great first half with 17 points as she went 6-of-8 from the field plus knocked down three 3-pointers.
High Point continued its run in the second half. The Panthers outscored the Bulldogs 19-5 in the first five minutes to sprint to a 61-31 lead. Hargraves started the run with eight straight points to open the half.
The Bulldogs kept playing and battling. Asheville made a run of its own, thanks to 11 second-half points from Thompson. The Bulldogs whittled the lead down to 15 at 72-57 with 4:12 left on a three-point play from Montgomery.
However, that was as close as Asheville would get as the Panthers won their third straight league game.
The Bulldogs had a huge edge in rebounding with a 56-34 advantage but were undone by poor shooting. Asheville shot just 30 percent (21-of-69) from the field and committed 23 turnovers.
Asheville plays at Winthrop Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. High Point hosts Liberty on Saturday in a first-place showdown.
