CLEMSON, S.C. ? Senior distance runner Jon Harmon set a school record in the 5000 meters on Saturday to highlight the UNC Asheville men's performance at the Big South Conference Indoor Track and Field championships.

Harmon ran the 5000 meters in a time of 14:55 to finish in fifth place in the event. He also took a fourth-place finish in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:29. That was second fastest time in school history.

The men's squad finished in seventh place at the meet with 14 points. The women's squad took eighth with 11 points.

“We did the best we could with the teams we had,” commented UNC Asheville coach Jesse Norman. “We've had a lot of injuries and illness that has slowed us down. We battled this weekend and we will be better for it in the long run.”

Daniel Corriher earned a seventh place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 12.78 meters.

On the women's side, Emily Mase placed seventh in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:29. Natalie Pearson finished sixth in the 60 meters at 7.78 meters.

Corrie Trotter tied for ninth in the high jump with a jump of 1.46 meters.
