Bogaert and Mattison Lead Bulldogs to Series Victory 4-1 over Akron

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Michael Bogaert went eight innings allowing just four hits and one run and Kevin Mattison hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead UNC Asheville to a 4-1 victory over Akron in the rubber game of their series Sunday afternoon at Greenwood Field.
Bogaert (2-0) retired 19 straight batters after a one out singe in the first inning until he walked the lead-off batter in the eighth inning. Kevin Haas singled in the first and was caught stealing allowing Bogaert to face the minimum 21 batter through the first seven innings.
After five scoreless innings in which both teams had managed just one hit,
Bogaert came out for the ninth but allowed a lead off double to Drew Tuorcy and a single to Ryan Frazee to plate
Tuorcy went six innings for
Mattison had just two hits in the three-game series both were home runs. He had a two run shot on Friday and then his three run blast on Sunday. Wiedenbacher went 6-for-14 in the three games.
