Harmon Takes First in the Mile at Liberty

Harmon beat an excellent field with a time of 4:25.74. He edged out Dustin Whitlow of Mars Hill who ran the race in 4:25.77.
Both the Bulldog men's and women's teams had plenty of highlights over the weekend.
Senior Omar Ahmad placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 4.13 meters. In the shot put, Daniel Corriher placed 12th with a throw of 12.78 meters. He also took 12th in the weight throw with a throw of 12.39 meters. Teammate Keith Scruggs was right behind Corriher at 12.25 meters and good for 13th place.
In the 800 meters, Duane Stepp came in 19th at
Stepp also competed in the 400 meters and took 23rd at a time of 55.32.
Will Beasley took 14th in the long jump with a jump of 5.93 meters.
On the women's side, Emily Mase continued her good season with a fifth place finish in the 3000 meters at a time of
Elizabeth Duncan finished eighth in the mile with a time of
Corrie Trotter came in 10th in the long jump at 1.50 meters. She finished 21st in the long jump at 4.49 meters. Morgan Weeks took 13th in the shot put at 9.27 meters, while Emily Elstrom came in eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 6.12 meters. Elstrom finished in 17th in the shot put with a throw of 8.49 meters.
Morgan Weeks also competed in the pentathlon and came in seventh place with 2,636 points. She finished sixth in both the long jump and shot put plus seventh in the 800 meters.
UNC Asheville is back in action next Saturday (Feb. 2) at the VMI Winter Relays.
