Volleyball Roars Past Presbyterian in Four Games

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville placed four players in double figures in kills as the Bulldogs ended the regular-season with a 3-1 victory over Presbyterian at Justice Center Saturday afternoon. Asheville won the match, 30-24, 30-24, 25-30, 30-22.
The Bulldogs (11-21) were led by Lauren Ficker and Kelsey Benordent with 15 kills each. Benorden had 16 digs, while Ficker hit .429 for the match. Alysha Greer added 13 kills. Senior Ashley Wrightenberry playing in her final home match had 11 kills with no errors in 17 attempts. She finished with five blocks.
Bridget Holliday keyed the Asheville defense with 20 digs. Raquel Miotto had 13 digs and three service aces. Setter Kaitlyn McDaniel just missed a tripe-double with 55 assists, 10 digs and eight kills.
Presbyterian (20-13) was led by Lauren Mason with 13 kills. Justine Lanchester has 12 kills. Kelsey McKee finished with 11 kills, while Amanda Kettles added 10 kills. Elizabeth Heineman contributed 19 digs.
"This is a nice win to get going into tournament play," commented UNC Asheville coach Julie Torbett. "We did a good job in all areas of the game and played with some poise. It was good to see Ashley Wrightenberry go out on a winning note."
Wrighteberry moved into a tie for first place on the school's all-time career list for block assists with 339.
The Bulldogs play next in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference Tournament Thursday. The pairings for the tournament will be announced sometime on Sunday.
