    Assistant Coach

Trip Cogburn begins his sixth year of service to the UNC Asheville basketball program. The Asheville native joined the Bulldog staff in 2002 and helped the Bulldogs win the Big South Conference tournament and advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.

"Trip is an exceptionally organized young man who has been a big asset to our coaching staff the past five years," stated Biedenbach. "He’s very hard worker who does so much for us behind the scenes. I’m glad he’ll be with us again this year as we go after a Big South Conference championship."

Cogburn is a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in English. Cogburn was the basketball team MVP his junior and senior years, earning all-conference honors as a senior. While at Carolina Day, he played for current Bulldog assistant Thomas Nash. As a soccer player, Cogburn was an all-conference performer and team MVP his senior year.

During the 2000-01 school year, he was a volunteer for the athletics director at Carolina Day and coach of the school’s JV basketball team in 2001.
