Overview: Only senior on this year's cross country roster...hard worker who has improved with each season in both cross country and track and field.
2009-10: Took 14th in the opening cross country meet of the year at the WCU Open on September 4th with a time of 16:49 in 5K...top time in 8K with a time of 27:28 at the Charlotte Invitational on October 2nd....ran a personal best in the 3k at the Charlotte 49er Classic with a time of 9:36 on March 18th ... just ten days later he posted a personal best in the 1500 meters at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic with a time of 4:23...at the Big South Outdoor Conference Championships he ran another personal best in the 5k with a time of 16:07 on April 17th.
2008-09: Was the 5th runner for the Bulldogs in Cross Country at the Greater Louisville Classic on October 4th with a time of 27:30... had a solid track season running 16:25 for 5k at the Charlotte 49ers Invitational on March 20th.
2007-08: Ran 29:48 for the 8k on October 12th at the Blue Ridge Open.
Before UNC Asheville: Competed for Myers Park High School under the direction of John Cline...while being the team captain his senior year, Jay helped his team bring home the 2007 4A cross country runner-up trophy...career bests of 10:19 (3200m) & 16:56 (5k).
