Â
Asheville scored first with one run in the top of the first, with Ben Green reaching on an infield single that scored Tyler Parks for a 1-0 lead. After Ben Hemphill drew a four-pitch walk to put two runners on with no one out before Coleman McGinnis advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt. After the second out was recorded, Jake Pereira delivered the big blow in the inning with a two-run single to right field to score Green and Hemphill and give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Pereira advanced to second on the throw on the play, before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Lowe's 100th career hit proved to be a pivotal one, as the milestone knock was driven up the middle to score Pereira and ultimately give the Bulldogs a 4-2 lead. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game as the Bulldogs hung on to even the series.
