Baseball Drops Midweek Contest at Tennessee on Tuesday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - UNC Asheville Baseball dropped its midweek contest at Tennessee on Tuesday (Apr. 14) by a score of 11-1 in eight innings.

Tennessee scored two runs in the third, before adding two in the sixth for a 4-0 lead. Asheville got on the board in the seventh when Jake Pereira grounded out to score Ben Green. Tennessee answered with five runs in the bottom of the seventh and one in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.

Jake Minarik paced the offense with two hits in the game, while Blaize Johnson, Patrick Gillen and Pereira each had one hit in the contest. Pereira drove in Asheville's lone run, while Green scored Asheville's lone run. Pereira stole two bases in in the game, while Logan Lowe also stole one base in the contest. The Bulldogs got a solid start out of Garrett Crum (0-3) who allowed six runs, five earned through 6.1 innings on six hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Nic Melton and Daylinh Nguyen-Brown finished the game off on the mound for the Bulldogs.
