Baseball Drops Friday Contest to Wofford

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Baseball dropped its Friday (Apr. 17) contest to Wofford by a score of 16-1 in seven innings.
 
Wofford built a big lead through three and a half innings, before Asheville's lone run in the game came on a solo shot to right field from Blaize Johnson for his 10th home run of the season. Wofford scored once in the fifth and once in the sixth to ultimately bring the game to its final score.
 
Logan Lowe, Johnson, Patrick Gillen, Tyler Parks and Eric Krumpe each had one hit in the game for the Bulldogs, while Johnson had the lone RBI and run scored in the game. Lucas Boesen (1-2) took the loss in the game for the Bulldogs, before Colin Woolard, Nick Bruno and Landon Gross combined to finish the game off on the mound for Asheville. Bruno was tagged with one unearned run on two hits through 1.1 innings of relief, with two walks and two punchouts. Gross fired 2.1 innings of relief after Bruno, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and one strikeout.  
 
The Bulldogs return to the diamond tomorrow (Saturday, Apr. 18) traveling to Wofford for the middle game of the series. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. from Spartanburg, S.C. with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
