Ben Green Named to College Baseball Hall of Fame's John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - UNC Asheville Baseball freshman Ben Green was named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame's John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List, announced by the organization yesterday (Wednesday, Mar. 4).
 
The award is named for former Washington State standout and major leaguer John Olerud, who was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
 
Green has worked his way into the lineup as both a starting pitcher and a center fielder, as well as spending time at designated hitter. In the field, Green has played and started in 13 games and is third on the team with a .333 batting average. He has totaled 16 hits including three doubles, one triple and one home run while driving in 10 runs and scoring 10 runs. He has also drawn seven walks and stolen three bases on the season. On the mound, he has made three starts striking out five in 6.1 innings so far this year.
 
The freshman is from Matthews, N.C. and is a business major.
 
The Bulldogs return to action this weekend (Mar. 6-8) for a four-game series with Alabama A&M. First pitch on Friday (Mar. 6) is set for 3:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
