Baseball Season Ends on Saturday in Loss with Loss to High Point

High Point jumped out in front with a four-run first inning, before the teams would trade scoreless frames until Asheville responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Parks got the fourth inning started with a one-out single up the middle, before Owen Michelson was hit by a pitch to put two runners on for Eric Krumpe. Krumpe would draw a walk to load the bases, before Patrick Gillen would draw a walk to bring home Parks and get the Bulldogs on the board. After the second out was recorded, Coleman McGinnis was hit by a pitch to score Michelson for Asheville's second run of the inning. After Garrett Crum held the Panthers off the board in the fifth, Asheville would add one run to get a bit closer when Michelson brought home Parks on a single to left as the game went to the sixth 4-3 in favor of High Point. After Crum held the Panthers down into the seventh with the game still just 4-3, Asheville would get two runs back to take a 5-4 lead. Logan Lowe led the inning off with a single, before Michelson was hit by a pitch with one out to push Lowe to second. Ben Green drew a pinch-hit walk to load the bases for Gillen, who gave the Bulldogs the lead with an opposite-field single through the left side to score Lowe and Michelson and put the Bulldogs up 5-4 heading to the eighth. High Point would flip the script in the top of the eighth with back-to-back home runs for a 6-5 lead, before they added two runs in the top of the ninth to ultimately bring the game to its final score.

Parks, Gillen and Jake Perieira each had two hits in the game, while Lowe and Michelson each had one hit in the game. Parks and Michelson each scored twice, while Lowe also scored one run in the game. Gillen drove in three runs in the game, while Michelson and McGinnis each drove in one run in the game. Gillen also stole one base in the game. Cooper Smith got the start in his final game as a Bulldog, allowing four runs on five hits through 2.1 innings of work with two walks and two strikeouts. Crum took the loss in the game for the Bulldogs, firing 4.2 innings of relief with two runs on three hits to go along with two walks and four strikeouts. Matthew Hall tossed one inning of hitless relief, allowing one run with one walk and one strikeout before handing the ball off to TJ Brooks to finish the game off. Brooks allowed one run on three hits through his final inning as a Bulldog.
