Bulldogs Blank South Carolina State for Maren's First Win as Head Coach

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis blanked South Carolina State 7-0 on Saturday (Feb. 7) for Jeff Maren's first win as head coach of the Bulldogs.

With one doubles match completed, Avery Sager and Maria sol Alvarez Brandon beat Iriela Rajaobelina and Tuhina Sambhus 6-4 at No. 3 before Angelina Joy Hug and Sofia Segui teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 over Ashikha Amalnathan and Valeria Teran to secure the doubles point.

Valeria Centeno earned a win by default at No. 6 singles to put Asheville up 2-0, before Sager beat Rajaobelina 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 for a 3-0 lead. Segui picked up her first career singles win as a Bulldog with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sambhus, before Brandon earned her first career win by a score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 over Danica Nedeljkovic. Hug would earn a 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 win over Amalnathan at No. 1, before Isabella Moss would close things out with her first career singles win defeating Valeria Teran by a score of 6-4, 2-6, 13-11. Â
