CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville guard Jamaria Freeman has earned Big South Conference Freshman of the Week honors, announced by the league today (Monday, Feb. 16).

Asheville went 1-1 last week with a 73-45 loss to Radford on Wednesday (Feb. 11) and a 63-57 win at USC Upstate on Saturday (Feb. 14).Â

Against Upstate, Freeman registered a career-high 21 points on a career-best 8-19 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and a career-high seven steals.

This is Freeman's second career Freshman of the Week honor. The Wilson, N.C. native is a criminal justice major.

The Bulldogs are back at home on Wednesday (Feb. 18) hosting High Point in Big South Conference action for Sponsor and Donor Appreciation Night. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. from Kimmel Arena with video, live stats, radio and tickets available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
