Men’s Basketball Adds Charleston Southern Transfer DJ Patrick

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Mike Morrell announced on Wednesday (May 14) the addition of transfer guard DJ Patrick to the 2025-26 roster.
"We are excited to welcome DJ from CSU," said Morrell. "He is a player we know well and brings a ton of experience to our program. Our fans will really enjoy getting to know him."
The 6-6 guard from Powder Springs, Ga., comes to Asheville as a Redshirt Senior, after only competing in three games during the 2024-25 season due to injury. Patrick scored 34 points in three games, with a season-high 19 points in his season debut against Gardner-Webb (Jan. 2).
Patrick's first season at CSU was the 2023-24 season, where he played in 25 games and made 24 starts. He averaged 31.0 minutes per game during the season, which ranked ninth in the Big South across the entire season. Patrick averaged 10.2 points an outing on the season, ranking fourth for CSU and 28th in the conference. The Powder Springs native ranked second in the league on the season for three-point makes at 2.1 with 52 makes on the year. He contributed on the glass for the team with 4.1 rebounds per game and 102 total on the season.
Prior to Charleston Southern, Patrick played two seasons at South Florida. Patrick played in four games and made one start during the 2022-23 season, but in 2021-22, he played in 30 games and made two starts. He averaged 14.2 mins/game and ranked second on the team in three-pointers made (30). Patrick averaged 3.9 points, 1.3 rebounds per game, and totaled 14 assists, five blocks, and three steals.
Patrick transferred to South Florida from Triton Junior College, where he played during the 2020-21 season. In 18 games, he scored in double-digits 14 times and had eight games with three or more 3-pointers. He averaged 14.6 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game, shooting 47.4% from the floor and 43.9% from the 3-point range.
Patrick graduated from Sprayberry High School in 2019 and spent the 2019-20 season at The Skills Factory (an Atlanta-based prep school for basketball) before starting at Triton.
