Harvey Resets Two School Records to Highlight Catamount Classic

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Track and Field team had a strong showing at the Catamount Classic on Friday and Saturday (April 25-26), with two new school records, six adjustments to the record books, and 33 personal bests achieved.Â
RECORD BOOK ADJUSTMENTS AND PODIUM FINISHESÂ
DaMarr Harvey led the Bulldogs at the Classic, highlighting the weekend by taking silver in the men's 100m final and resetting his school record to 10.32, slipping .01 under his previous best mark. His time is a new DI No. 44.
Harvey also dipped for second place in the men's 200m, taking silver in 21.28. He was joined by Ethan Acosta (22.84, 27th) and Blake Hawks (23.24, 30th), who both locked personal bests.Â
Joseph Oliver had his best kick of the season to lock down the men's 400m in a personal best of 48.26. His winning time is a new No. 4 in school records.Â
Shemarr Session went into Saturday's 110m Hurdles final with the top qualifying mark at 14.20 from Friday's prelim, crossing the line in a personal best and new No. 3 in program records. Session took second place in the final with 14.65.Â
Nkosi Jeju also set a personal best in the men's 100m final, taking fourth place in 10.64 and entering at No. 3 on the All-Time list for Asheville.Â
Harvey, Oliver, Session, and Jeju were part of the record-breaking men's 4x100m relay team. The team dropped the school record to sub-40, setting the new top mark at 39.97. Their cumulative time enters at a new DI No. 57. The quartet held the previous record at 40.01, set at the Bulldog Invite.Â
Oliver, Session, and Harvey joined Christopher Owens on the 4x400m relay team. They secured a season best of 3:15.44.Â
Quinn Jacquez took the lead early in the men's 5,000m, controlling the race before closing hard to take the victory in 15:04.79. Jacquez was joined by Nate Sullivan, who placed third, clocking a season-best of 15:23.17. Â
Francesca Cergol raced smart in the women's 400m, placing fifth in a personal best time of 57.15. Her time enters her onto the All-Time list for the first time at a new No. 3.Â
Isabel Richardson placed third in the women's 1,500m with a season best of 4:36.63.Â
WEEKEND PERSONAL AND SEASON BESTS
Aaron Higgins joined Harvey and Jeju in Friday's 100m prelims, earning a season's best of 11.13 to take 19th place.Â
Adam Graham and Noah Henthorn joined Session in the men's 110m hurdles prelims, earning personal bests of 15.75 (14th) and 1.47 (21st), respectively.Â
Madison Hannah doubled back with a clean sweep of personal bests this weekend, taking eighth place in the women's shot put with 11.63 meters and 14th place in the women's hammer throw with 41.21 meters on Friday. On Saturday, Hannah took fifth place in the women's discus with a throw of 44.00 meters.
Neely Rogan joined Hannah in the discus throw, placing 13th with a season best of 36.36 meters.Â
Chad Lasher earned a personal best in the men's discus throw to place fifth with his throw of 44.94 meters. He was joined by Noah Henthorn, who placed 18th with a personal best throw of 37.83 meters.Â
Four personal bests and three season bests made the 800m one of the most highly-contested events by the Bulldogs, with Jacoby Ennis leading the charge on the men's side with a season best of 1:55.40 to place 10th. Just .01 off the pace was Logan Russo, who finished in 11th with a personal best of 1:55.41. Next across the line was Tadiyos Sloan-Westmoreland, who earned a personal best of 1:58.24 (20th), and Noah Jones, who placed 23rd with a personal best of 1:59.31.Â
On the women's side, Ella Warren secured a personal best of 2:19.33 to place sixth overall, followed by Payton Murphy (2:27.25, 22nd) and Ashley Keazer (2:33.74, 31st).Â
In the men's 1,500m, Andrew Okon set a three-second personal best of 4:03.14 to place 11th. Closing hard close behind was Tadiyos Sloan-Westmoreland, who placed 13th in a personal best of 4:03.77. Lance Surles set a new season best of 4:24.19 to place 33rd.Â
Chad Lasher set a personal best in the men's shot put, placing 13th with his distance of 13.61 meters. Noah Henthorn took 18th place at the event, with a personal best of 12.46 meters.
Both Lasher and Henthorn also threw to personal best distances in the men's shot put, with Lasher placing 13th with 13.61 meters and Henthorn placing 18th with 12.46 meters.Â
Chaniya Owens jumped to a personal best of 5.11 meters in the women's long jump to take the 18th spot.Â
On Friday, Kamryn Peeples secured a season best of 12.62 (13th) in the women's 100m prelims.
Over the 100m hurdles, Madison Eaches set a new personal best of 18.81 to place 21st overall. Eaches also sprinted to a personal best in the women's 200m, placing 36th in 29.35.Â
Murielle Jeanite led the charge in the women's 200m, placing 18th at a personal best of 25.86. Hot on her heels was Kamryn Peeples, who secured a season best of 25.88 to take 19th place. Lee Kania placed 34th with a personal best of 28.27.Â
On the men's side, Ethan Acosta and Blake Hawks set personal bests, with Acosta placing 27th in 22.84 and Hawks taking 30th in 23.34.
Eva Weaver secured a personal best of 19:38.98 (21st) in the women's 5,000m.Â
