BULLDOGS TO WATCH
Shemarr Session entered the 2025 outdoor season as one of the most decorated freshmen in school history after the Big South Indoor Championships. He used this momentum to excel outdoors in the 200m and over the 110m hurdles, breaking three records and earning two Big South weekly honors to mark an incredible freshman campaign.
Session set a new school record in the 200m at the Bulldog Invite (April 11-12) with an event-winning time of 20.66 (current No. 53 in national DI rankings). Session holds the top spot in league rankings, which also marks the 10th-fastest in league history. His standout performance earned him the Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor, announced April 17.
Session has also excelled over the 110m hurdles, chipping his time down from 15.18 at the 49er Classic (March 21-22) to 14.20 at the Catamount Classic (April 25-26). His personal best was the top qualifying mark on the day, moving him to No. 3 in program history and No. 2 in league rankings. Session was awarded the Men's Freshman of the Week honor following the Catamount Classic, announced on April 30.
DaMarr Harvey kicked off his outdoor season in spectacular style by locking down the men's 200m at the 49er Classic with a time of 20.88, just .17 off his school record, and placing second in the men's 100m with 10.58. Harvey's efforts secured his first Big South weekly honor, Men's Track Athlete of the Week, announced on March 26.
Harvey led the Bulldogs at the Catamount Classic, highlighting the weekend by resetting his school record to 10.32, slipping .01 under his previous best mark to take silver overall. Harvey also dipped for second place in the men's 200m with 21.18, which secured him his second Athlete of the Week award, announced on April 30.
Nkosi Jeju has had a phenomenal first season in an Asheville jersey, jumping to a new school record distance of 7.28 meters in the men's long jump at the Bulldog Invite. Jeju held the record at 7.07 meters, set at the Tennessee Invite (April 4-5). Jeju also set a personal best of 10.64 in the men's 100m at the Catamount Classic, entering at No. 3 in program history.
Session, Harvey, and Jeju have all been pivotal members of the men's 4x100m relay team this season, joining Joseph Oliver in setting a new school record of 39.97 at the Catamount Classic. The Bulldog quartet previously dropped the record to 40.01 at the Bulldog Invite to win the event and currently holds the No. 2 spot in league rankings.
Oliver kicked hard in the men's 400m at the Carolina Classic, winning in a personal best time of 48.26, a new No. 4 in school records.
Jan Málek has rewritten the record books in the men's 3,000m steeplechase and 1,500m this season, holding No. 1 and No. 5 rankings amongst conference competition ahead of the championships. Málek dropped the 3,000m steeplechase record to 8:58.03 at the Raleigh Relays (March 28), securing a heat win and 30th overall. The previous record had stood for almost two decades at 9:06.08.
At the Bulldog Invite, Málek reset his 1,500m record to 3:48.07 to take second overall. He held the record at 3:48.89, set at the 49er Classic as his season opener.
