ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving wrapped up a pair of mid-season competitions on Sunday (Nov. 23), with the swimmers finishing seventh at the Fall Frenzy Invitational with 497 team points.

Asheville swimmers would post 10 season-best times and two lifetime-best times in the finals. Anna Marcotti swam the 100 free final in 51.70, while Beatrice Cocconcelli (2:20.46) and Anna Kate Halligan (2:21.68) each registered season-best times in the finals of the 200 breast. Miriam Wheatley (2:21.20) and Gracelyn Cox (2:23.76) also swam in the finals of the 200 breast. Alessia Cunegatti posted a lifetime-best 2:07.51 in the 200 fly, while Andie Quisumbing (2:09.05) and Tess Peny (2:10.53) each posted season-best times in the event. Taylor Smith also swam the event in 2:16.31. The quartet of Gianna Riffel, Marcotti, Cocconcelli and Cunegatti finished the 3:29.97, with Riffel posting a lifetime-best split of 53.01 and Cocconcelli (52.01) and Cunegatti (53.32) each recording season-best splits.

Eleanor Pichetto took fifth in the platform diving finals with a score of 189.60, while Leigha Travis finished 11th with a score of 145.05.

Asheville landed nine swimmers in the finals through Sunday's prelims, recording 18 season-best marks and two lifetime-best marks. Amelia Presley swam the 200 back in a season-best 2:09.45, while Savanna Bush also swam the event in 2:14.28. Marcotti qualified for the B final of the 100 free in a season-best 51.57, while Gianna Riffel (53.53), Danai Gkogkosi (53.69), Gracie Hunt (54.72), Presley (56.04), Celine Petruschke (55.73) and Ava Kilpatrick (59.13) all swam season-best times in the event. Madden Weir also finished the race in 57.40. Kathryn Walters swam the mile in a season-best 17:39.93 including a season-best 10:41.42 1000 split, while Rose Sciaudone also recorded a season-best time of 17:58.60 along with a season-best 1000 split of 10:49.19. Cunegatti qualified for the C final of the 200 fly with a lifetime-best time of 2:07.80, while Peny (2:10.71), Quisumbing (2:11.87) and Smith (2:13.33) each qualified for the D final with season-best marks. Wheatley swam a lifetime-best 2:20.71 in the 200 breast to qualify for the B final, while Cocconcelli posted a season-best time of 2:21.48 to also earn a spot in the B final. Cox swam a season-best 2:23.46 to earn a spot in the C final, while Halligan posted a season-best 2:24.96 to qualify for the D final.

"I'm proud of the team's energy levels for this multi-day competition," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "We learned a lot about racing and preparation which will be useful at the conference championships in February.Â

In platform diving, Pichetto and Travis each earned a spot in the A final with Pichetto finishing with a score of 156.70 and Travis with a mark of 142.15.

"I'm very pleased with how the weekend went as a whole," said diving coach Bailey Betzer. "We had some great performances from all three girls. We still have some work to do before conference, but overall we're in a good place!"

The Bulldogs return to dual meet action Dec. 12-13 hosting Georgia Southern in Atlantic Sun Conference competition. Diving will take place on Friday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Asheville Jewish Community Center, while swimming will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Justice Center Pool.
