Women's Tennis Competes at Eastern Kentucky's D1 Showdown Over the Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis competed at Eastern Kentucky's D1 Showdown over the weekend (Oct. 3-4).

Asheville collected three singles wins on Friday, along with one singles win and one doubles win on Saturday. Angelina Joy Hug picked up a singles win against Northern Kentucky, while Avery Sager earned a win against Eastern Kentucky. Valeria Centeno also posted a win against Northern Kentucky in singles play. Valeria Centeno and Angelina Joy Hug teamed up for a win over Bucknell in doubles play, before Hug earned another singles win over an Eastern Kentucky opponent.

"This weekend provided the necessary competition we need to prepare for the spring," said head coach Jeff Maren. "It also showed us some areas we need to work on. So this weekend was a win for us, as we will definitely get better as a result."

The Bulldogs return to action Oct. 16-19 at the ITA Carolina Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C. hosted by the University of North Carolina.
