Caroline Patterson Leads Field After Day One of Velvet Classic

PADUCAH, Ky. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team began its second tournament of the season on Monday, as the Bulldogs kicked off the Velvet Classic, hosted by Murray State at the Country Club of Paducah.

Asheville played two rounds of 18 on day one and shot rounds of 310 and 302 (612). The Bulldogs entered the second round in fifth place but jumped to second following their performance in the second round.

Caroline Patterson led the entire field of 91 competitors with a two-round score of 142. Patterson shot a 74 (+2) in the first round and a 68 (-4) in the second to finish the day 2-under.

Morgan Guepet enters the third round tied for 16th place with rounds of 78 and 77 (+11).

Ally Kerr is tied for 24th with rounds of 78 and 79 (+13), Beryl Giletti is tied for 28th with rounds of 80 and 78 (+14), and Jordyn Arts rounded out the Bulldogs, finishing tied for 45th with rounds of 84 and 79 (+19).

The Bulldogs are 16 strokes behind Austin Peay, who leads the field with a two-round score of 596. Belmont trails Asheville by five strokes. For full results from the first two rounds, click HERE.
