Men’s Basketball Adds Transfer Forward Jemal Davis

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball has signed Central Michigan transfer forward Jemal Davis, Head Coach Mike Morrell announced.
"We are excited to welcome Jemal to the UNC Asheville family," said Morrell. "He is an extremely athletic and gifted forward who has a lot of experience at the D1 level. Jemal will fit in nicely to our style of play."
The native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, spent one year in Central Michigan after transferring from Florida Southwestern State. Davis spent his first two years playing at South Carolina State.
As a junior at Central Michigan, Davis saw action in 31 of 32 games off the bench and averaged 5.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, recorded 14 3-pointers, and 23 steals in 15.2 minutes played per game. Davis was 61-for-150 from the field (40.7 %).
During his sophomore season at Florida Southwestern, Davis earned Second Team All-Southern Conference honors. He played in 28 games with six starts and averaged 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 51.9% from the field. Davis finished the season with 40 blocks, ranking him the third-most in a single season in Florida Southwestern school history.
During his two years at South Carolina State, Davis played in a combined 37 games and made 34 starts. He averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in his second year and 7.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in his first season.
Before college, Davis prepped at Okeechobee High School, where he earned two letters in basketball and was named the Treasure Coast All-Area Player of the Year.
