Men’s Basketball Signs Cincinnati Transfer Sage Tolentino

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball program has signed transfer Sage Tolentino, as Head Coach Mike Morrell announced on Wednesday.
"We are excited to welcome Sage to Asheville," says Morrell. "He comes from a great Cincinnati program and will bring great size to our team. Bulldog Fans will enjoy his personality and getting to know him!"
Tolentino, a 7-1 forward, is transferring from Cincinnati after two seasons and earned a medical redshirt following the 2022-23 season. During the 2023-24 season, he appeared in six games. He comes to Asheville with three years of eligibility.
The Kaneohe, Hawaii native attended Hamilton High School after transferring from Maryknoll High School. He was ranked No. 144 in the Rivals Top 150 and was the third-rated player in Hawaii's FAB 15, leading the state in blocks per game. When arriving in Ohio, Tolentino was rated the fourth-best center. In eighth grade, he helped his team to the D1 Interscholastic Basketball Championship and state titles as a freshman and sophomore. Tolentino has played for JaVale McGee's All-Star Team in Michigan on the AAU circuit, in addition to TSF in Atlanta and Power 5 in Wisconsin.
