BACK TO BACK! Bulldogs Claim Second Straight Big South Conference Regular Season Championship on Senior Day

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -Â UNC Asheville Women's Tennis claimed its second consecutive Big South Conference Regular Season Championship and its third in program history on Monday (Apr. 15), beating visiting Presbyterian by a score of 6-1 on Senior Day. UNC Asheville becomes the first repeat regular season champion since Charleston Southern in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Asheville claimed the doubles point with two wins in doubles play, before winning five out of six singles matches.
Valeria Centeno and Avery Sager began the day with a 6-1 win over Claudia Sanchez and Valentina De Sousa at No. 3, before Angelina Joy Hug and Rosie Dickson beat Lucianna Piedra and Madison Dennett 6-3 at No. 2 to claim the doubles point. Alexis Nyborg began singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mathilde Delaney at No. 3, before Centeno put Asheville up 3-0 just a few minutes later with a 6-4, 6-0 win over D'Estree Colalancia at No. 6. Dickson clinched the win for the second year in a row with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Dennett at No. 5, before Louise Booker beat McKenzie Davis 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Linge Steenkamp closed things out with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Sanchez. Â
