Bulldogs Notch Eighth Straight Win with Conference Victory over Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis notched its eighth straight win with a 6-1 Big South Conference victory over Gardner-Webb on Thursday (Mar. 7).
Asheville captured the doubles point with two wins in doubles play, before winning five of six singles matches to bring the contest to its final score.
Avery Sager and Louise Booker teamed up to blanks Courtney Fyvie and Aliz'ee Poulin 6-0 at No. 3 doubles, before Angelina Joy Hug and Rosie Dickson clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Katie Watts and Milica Prokic at No. 2 doubles. Dickson went on to start singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Watts at No. 5, while Linge Steenkamp beat Emilia Roslund 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1. Hug clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Fyvie at No. 4, before Alexis Nyborg beat Poulin 7-6 (5-0), 6-4 at No. 3. Sager closed things out with a 7-5, 4-6, 10-3 win at No. 6 over Prokic. Â
The Bulldogs (9-2, 1-0 Big South Conference) return to action on Sunday (Mar. 10) at Wofford in non-conference action. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. from the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
