GREENWOOD, Ind. - Fletcher Abee of the UNC Asheville men's basketball team has earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today (Tuesday, Mar. 26). This is Abee's second time in his career earning CSC Academic All-District honors.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, both athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average, and either appear in 90 percent of their team's contests or start in at least 66 percent. Abee has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on April 17.
Abee played in 34 games and started in 32 during his senior year. He averaged 10.6 points per game and led the team in 3-point shooting, with 75 3-pointers and a .408 3-point shooting percentage. Abee's top game of the season came on Nov. 18 against Virginia-Lynchburg, where he knocked down nine 3-pointers to break the 3-point record, which was later broken on Dec. 21 by fellow teammate Josh Banks.
Abee was also named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team.
