Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Radford on Saturday

RADFORD, Va. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer played to a scoreless draw at Radford on Saturday (Oct. 19) in Big South Conference action. With the program's fifth clean sheet of the season, Asheville has matched the most shutouts in a single season (Five, 2000) in the program's Division I era.

Asheville was able to create offensive chances and outshoot Radford 6-3 in the first half, and work corner kicks 7-2 in the opening half despite the match being scoreless at the break.

The second half provided more of the same, with Asheville controlling the pace through the midfield and also doing a good job of defending Radford's counter attack. Each team totaled nine shots in the second half, while Asheville earned six corner kicks to Radford's two.

Asheville outshot Radford 15-12 in the match, with a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Asheville also earned 13 corner kicks in the match to Radford's four in the contest. Edvin Grolimund paced the Bulldogs with a career-high five shots in the contest, while Seth Hammond had three and Benian Yao and Rinta Takagi each had two. Charlie Wood, Roger Sanguinetti and Aysa Hamid each had one shot in the contest. Charlie Farrar (4-3-3) made two saves between the pipes for his fourth shutout of the season and the 16th of his career.
