Bulldogs Start 2024 with 6-1 Win over UNC Greensboro

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Women's Tennis Team started its 2024 season with a 6-1 win over UNC Greensboro at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown on Sunday (Jan. 21).
The Bulldogs swept all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, before winning five out of six singles matches for the convincing victory.
Ari Siegel and Linge Steenkamp teamed up to beat Olivia Gallagher and Alexandra Dodashev 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, before Louise Booker and Angelina Joy Hug teamed up to beat Raegan Mitchell and Sydney Bly 6-3 at No. 2. Valeria Centeno and Avery Sager went on to beat Lauren Thomson and Juliana Craft 6-3 at No. 3 to complete the doubles sweep. Steenkamp went on to beat Dodashev 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1, while Booker beat Gallagher 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2. Alexis Nyborg picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Mitchell at No. 3, before Hug beat Craft 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5. Centeno polished off the win with a 7-6, 2-6, 10-4 win over Luna Urso at No. 6.
