BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville fifth-year senior Drew Pember has been named the Big South Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for games played Dec. 26-31, announced by the league on Tuesday (Jan. 2).

In Asheville's game against UAB on Friday, Dec. 29, Pember scored a game-high and season-high 30 points, along with six rebounds and three blocks. Pember recorded his 200th career block against the Blazers and went 9-for-14 from the field and 12-for-13 from the charity stripe.

Pember's weekly honor marks the first time since Dec. 2021 that the Bulldogs have earned back-to-back player of the week honors, as Josh Banks was named Player of the Week on Dec. 27.

This is Pember's first weekly award of the season and the ninth weekly award of his career. Pember has the most weekly award honors in program history and is second in Big South history.

On the season, Pember leads Asheville, averaging 18.7 points per game, 14 steals, and 29 blocks.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 3, as they open Big South Conference play in Kimmel Arena against USC Upstate at 6 p.m.
