MEET PREVIEW: Bulldogs Return to South Carolina for Carolina Challenge

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Following a successful opening meet at the Gamecock Opener on Jan. 13, the UNC Asheville track & field team will return to South Carolina for the Carolina Challenge this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 19-20). A total of 50 Bulldogs will compete across the two days, with 11 Bulldogs making the invitational selection on Saturday in their respective events.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs started their 2024 campaign strong with several personal bests recorded and notable performances from Jan Málek, who won the men's mile in a time of 4:12.45, setting a new school record, and Anthony Mason, who broke his school record in the men's 300 with a 12th place finish and time of 34.81. On the women's side, Mallory Haney finished third in the women's high jump, recording a distance of 1.61 meters. To round off the weekend, there were also three fourth-place finishes from Brock Newsome (1000m - 2:31.00), Tom Germann (800m - 1:57.48), and Alison Graf (600m - 1:39.64).

The complete meet schedule and live results from the Carolina Challenge can be found HERE. Events will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday with the women's weight throw and men's 5000m.
