Men's Basketball Finishes 2023 Recruiting Class with Signing of Javoy Thompson

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville men's basketball has signed Javoy Thompson to its 2023 recruiting class, announced today (Wednesday, June 28) by Head Coach Mike Morrell.
Thompson's signing rounds out the 2023 class for Asheville, with Thompson coming in as a freshman in addition to four transfers.
"We are excited to finish out our class with Javoy "Boogie" Thompson," said Morrell. "With his length and athleticism, he really fits us from a style of play standpoint on both offense and defense. We look forward to him joining the rest of the team on campus next month."
A native of The Bronx, N.Y., Thompson averaged 25.0 points per game, 8.0 assists per game and 6.0 rebounds per game as a senior and team captain on a state semifinalist team at Redemption Christian Academy that finished the season 23-10. In addition to his success on the basketball court, he also played football at Redemption Christian Academy. He is the first Division I athlete in his family.
