Bulldogs down Presbyterian, 10-6, to claim their second straight series win

Asheville received a ton of production from the top of its batting order on Sunday. The Bulldogs' first three hitters in Kohl Abrams (2-for-4, three runs scored, one RBI), Robbie Burnett (2-for-3, two runs scored, two walks), and Dylan Bacot (2-for-4, one run scored, one RBI) all had two-hit performances. Additionally, Cameron Johnson hit a three-run home run for the second consecutive day to round out the offensive leaders for Asheville.
On the mound, the Bulldogs used six different pitchers on Sunday. Clay Edmondson started the game for Asheville and tossed 3.2 innings, allowed five runs on five hits to go with four strikeouts. Cole Schiff picked up the win in relief of Edmondson with 1.1 perfect innings. Michael Groves also had a stellar outing with 2.1 shutout innings to close out the game with four strikeouts.
Presbyterian wasted little time on jumping on Asheville in Sunday's series finale. A one-out walk, a stolen base and an RBI single followed to give the Blue Hose the early 1-0 lead. A batter later, PC's lead grew to three with a two-run home run to put the Bulldogs in a 3-0 hole before they had a chance at the plate.
The Bulldogs quickly answered though. Abrams kicked things off with a double in the gap, Bacot drew a walk ahead of Johnson launching his second three-run home run in as many days to tie the score 3-3.

PC regained the lead with two more runs in the second. Burnett crushed a line drive solo home run, which was his team-leading seventh of the season, in the third to cut the lead to one, 5-4.
Schiff came in to relieve Edmondson in the fourth inning. The sophomore lefthander picked up a key strikeout to finish out the fourth and then sat the Blue Hose down in order in the fifth to give Asheville a chance to continue its comeback bid.
Asheville pulled in front in the bottom of the fifth. The top of Asheville's order struck again as Bacot drove in Abrams with an RBI double to tie the game at five a side before an RBI groundout from Corbin Lanowitz put Asheville on top, 6-5.
The Bulldogs gained some more breathing room in the sixth as three costly errors from Presbyterian fueled a four-run inning for Asheville.
Presbyterian got one back with a solo home run in the seventh to make the score 10-6. However, the Bulldogs put Groves in to pitch with two outs in the seventh inning and he took it the rest of the way to preserve Asheville's second straight win. Groves, who is also Asheville's primary first baseman, has now pitched 5.1 innings this season with 10 strikeouts and has not allowed an earned run.
Next up for the Bulldogs will be a game on Tuesday against Appalachian State at Greenwood Field. First pitch between the Bulldogs and Mountaineers is scheduled for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
