ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Fresh off winning the Big South Tournament Championship on Sunday, the UNC Asheville men's basketball team moved up to No. 21 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll this week. It marks Asheville's highest ranking in the poll since they came in at No. 19 back on February 20, 2017.
The 2022-23 season has been one to remember for the Bulldogs. Asheville has broken the school record for wins in a season (27), went undefeated at home (13-0), and captured its fourth outright Big South Regular Season Championship as well as its sixth Big South Tournament Championship.
The 27 victories by the Bulldogs are tied for the fourth-most in Division I men's basketball this season. Asheville is also one of 11 teams in the country to go the entire regular season undefeated on their home floor.
Asheville won the 2023 Hercules Big South Basketball Tournament on Sunday after rallying from double digits to defeat Campbell, 77-73. With the win, the Bulldogs earned their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history and their first since 2016.
The Bulldogs will learn of their NCAA Tournament destination next Sunday (March 12). The Selection Show will air at 6 p.m. eastern time on CBS.
