PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The UNC Asheville women's golf team still sits in fifth place after day two of Lipscomb's Lady Bison Classic on Monday (Feb. 6), with Phoebe Carles still sitting inside the Top 10 individually for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs shot 317 as a team today to bring their tournament total to 623. The Bulldogs sit just one shot behind fourth-place Charleston Southern and four shots behind third-place North Alabama.

Phoebe Carles led the way turning in a 76 (+4) to sit in a tie for sixth individually, while Ally Kerr is tied for 13th individually after turning in an 81 (+9) on the day. Madyson Gold shaved four shots off yesterday's performance for a 79 (+7) on the day, while Kayla Benge turned in an 81 (+9) and Venecia Zaia carded an 84 (+12). Amber Capote and Sierra Cardi also competed for the Bulldogs, with Capote turning in a 90 and Cardi registering a 94.

Carles began her day shooting even par for her first 11 holes, before registering a bogey on No. 16 before finishing the back nine with back-to-back pars at one over. She made the turn recording a bogey on No. 1 and a double bogey on No. 2, before finishing out the round with pars on No. 3 and No. 4.

Kerr also began her day on No. 5, making par on the first two holes before scoring bogey on No. 7 and No. 8 before making the turn with a par on No. 9. Kerr tallied pars on No. 10 and No. 11, before registering a bogey on No. 12. After pars on No. 13 and No. 14, Kerr posted a double bogey followed by three straight bogeys to finish the back nine. She made the turn to the front with three straight pars before recording a bogey on No. 4 to finish her round.

"Today was a struggle from beginning to end," said head coach Ross Cash. "I suppose the golf course played harder today but ultimately that's just an excuse because it played more difficult for everyone. Phoebe really is in a great place mentally and really battled but today was a blown opportunity to move way up the leader board. We have golfers that have the ability to handle these types of conditions. We need to show what kind of firepower we have with this lineup, and we can do it, we just need five golfers at their best on the same day."

The team returns to action tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 7) for the final day of tournament play at Bay Point Golf Club. Play will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start, along with live results available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
