ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville men's tennis blanked Tusculum 7-0 on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 4) for the team's second straight win.
UNC Asheville swept the doubles point before winning all six singles matches for the shutout victory.
Rafa Serra and John Brann Reid defeated Nemanja Subanovic and Marco Jalalian 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, before Harry Thursfield and Sam Nicholson defeated Kenta Kondou and Nathan Matsuguma 6-1 at No. 2. Bruno Serra and Chester Wickwire wrapped up doubles play with a 6-2 victory over Rhodri Atkinson and Will Gee at No. 3. Nicholson would beat Atkinson at No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, before Reid defeated Subanovic 6-2, 7-6 (4-0) at No. 2. Thursfield beat Kondou 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3, while Freddy Murray beat Matsuguma 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4. Bruno Serra beat Ivan Ivars 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5, before Tarek Erlewein beat Gee 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 at No. 6.
