ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team came in at No. 24 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, the organization announced on Monday evening. It marks the first time that the Bulldogs have appeared in the poll since the 2017-18 season.
The Bulldogs finished the 2022-23 season with a 24-7 overall record that included a 16-2 mark in Big South play. The 24 wins overall matched the program single-season record for wins in a season as did the 16 Big South victories. Furthermore, the 2022-23 Bulldogs became the fourth team in Big South history to win 16 or more league games in a season. With their performance in league play, the Bulldogs captured their fourth outright Big South Regular Season Championship and their eighth overall.
Asheville will open play at the 2023 Hercules Big South Men's Basketball Championships on Friday afternoon in the Tournament's Quarterfinal round. The Bulldogs, who are the No. 1 seed in the Tournament, will play the winner of Wednesday's game between No. 8 High Point and No. 9 Charleston Southern on Friday. Tip-off for that matchup is set for Noon on ESPN+.
