GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Golf wrapped up play at the UNCG Collegiate on Tuesday (Oct. 10). Asheville finished 13th as a team in a solid tournament field. 

Asheville rebounded from a tough first day, finishing the second round with a team score of 303 and the final round with a team score of 300, tying for the 15th-lowest team round in program history. The team's 54-hole total of 921 marks the 10th-lowest team 54-hole total in program history.

Phoebe Carles paced Asheville in the tournament, finishing the second round with a 71 (-1) and the final round with a 73 (+1). Carles's 54-hole total of 219 landed her in an individual tie for 13th, while also tying for the fifth-lowest individual total in program history. Madyson Gold turned in a +4 76 in the second round, and a +1 73 in the final round for an individual total of 228 (+12). Beryl Giletti turned in two rounds of 76 apiece on the second day to finish with a total of 233 (+17). Hailey Pendleton finished round two with an 80 and her final round with a 78, while Presley Pickron shot 84 and 80 in the last two rounds.

Carles made pars on No. 1 and No. 2 in the second round, before making bogey on the next two holes. After pars on No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7, she made bogey on No. 8 and birdie on No. 9. She began the back nine with back-to-back birdies, before making par on the next five holes. Her second round concluded with a birdie on No. 17 and a par on No. 18. The front nine in the final round began with birdies on No. 1 and No. 2, before making pars on No. 3 and No. 4. She would bogey No. 5, birdie No. 6 and bogey No. 7 before finishing the front nine with a par on No. 8 and a bogey on No. 9. She would par No. 10 and bogey No. 11, before making par on the next four holes. Her final round ended with a bogey on No. 16, a birdie on No. 17 and a par on No. 18.

Gold's second round saw pars on No. 1 through No. 3, before a bogey on No. 4 and pars on No. 5 and No. 6. She made the turn after a double bogey on No. 7, a bogey on No. 8 and a par on No. 9. She made par on No. 10 and No. 11, before making birdie on No. 12 and bogey on No. 13. After a par on No. 14 and a bogey on No. 15, her second round concluded with pars on No. 16 and No. 17 before a birdie on No. 18. Gold birdied No. 1 to start her final round, before making pars on the next two holes. After a birdie on No. 4, she would par the next four holes before making the turn after a bogey on No. 9. After pars on No. 10 and No. 11, she would bogey the next three holes before making three straight pars. Her round ended with a birdie on No. 18.

Giletti made par on the first seven holes of the second round, before finishing the front with a bogey on No. 8 and a par on No. 9. After a bogey on No. 10, she made par on the next four holes before making double bogey on No. 15. After a bogey on No. 16, she wrapped up the round with pars on No. 17 and No. 18. She went bogey, par and bogey on No. 1-No. 3 in the final round, before making par on the next three holes. After a double bogey on No. 7, she would make par on No. 8 and bogey on No. 9. She would bogey No. 10 and birdie No. 11, before making par on the next six holes and finishing with a birdie on No. 18.

"Obviously this wasn't a great week," said head coach Ross Cash. "We are significantly better than this one tournament result. However there are some positives, one of which is Phoebe has played solid golf all year and continued to do so this week, but we need everyone else to step up to post some number needed to compete in an elite field like this one."

The Bulldogs return to action at Hawaii's Rainbow Wahine Invitational Oct. 22-25.
