BIG SOUTH RELEASE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The Big South Conference announced on Monday that UNC Asheville's Drew Pember has been named the Big South Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the games played between January 2-8. It marks the third time that Pember has earned this honor this season and the sixth time in his career as a Bulldog.

Pember led the way for Asheville last week as the Bulldogs picked up a pair of comeback wins at High Point and against Campbell. Pember averaged 25.0 points and 8.5 rebounds on the week. Pember also added five blocked shots to his conference-leading total. The Knoxville, Tennessee native went 23-for-29 from the free throw line, while logging a pair of 20-plus point performances against the Panthers and Camels. Pember scored 28 points to go with seven rebounds at High Point on Wednesday before tallying his sixth double-double of the season in a 22-point, 10-rebound day to help the Bulldogs rally from an 18-point second half deficit to knock off Campbell.

Pember and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday when it welcomes Longwood to Kimmel Arena for another Big South matchup. This game, which is the first Big South Wildcard game of the season, will tip-off at 7 p.m. on ESPNU. Tickets for Thursday's game can be purchased HERE.
