Women's Tennis Hosts Emmanuel (Ga.), Wofford This Weekend in Non-Conference Action

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's tennis hosts Emmanuel (Ga.) and Wofford this weekend in non-conference action. Both matches will be played at the Asheville Racquet Club, with Saturday's (Jan. 28) match against Emmanuel starting at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday's (Jan. 29) match against Wofford starting at 3:00 p.m.

About the Bulldogs - The Bulldogs enter the weekend at 1-1 overall after a 5-2 victory at UNC Greensboro on Saturday (Jan. 21). The Bulldogs have totaled four doubles wins so far on the season, with two coming from the tandem of Elizabeth Tindera and Valeria Centeno. The teams of Ari Siegel and Linge Steenkamp and Ami Grace Dougah and Rosie Dickson also each have one win in doubles play on the year.

About the Lions - The Lions enter the matchup at 2-2 overall after concluding their fall season with a 7-0 win over Truett McConnell back on Oct. 26. Emmanuel has totaled six doubles wins and 12 singles wins on the season, paced by three doubles wins from Lauren Castillon and Soleny Gonzalez. Three other doubles tandems have each picked up one win on the year. Zyana Rogel leads the Lions with three singles wins on the year, while Alejandra Gurrerro has two and seven others each have one singles win.

About the Terriers - The Terriers enter the weekend at 0-1 overall, dropping their first match of 2023 to Clemson by a score of 7-0 back on Jan. 22. The Terriers will host North Florida on Friday (Jan. 27) prior to coming to Asheville on Sunday.  

Series History - This will be the seventh all-time matchup between Asheville and Emmanuel, with Asheville leading the all-time series 6-0. The Bulldogs won the last matchup 6-1 back on Feb. 5, 2022. This will be the 20th all-time meeting between Asheville and Wofford, with Wofford leading the all-time series 15-4. Wofford won the last matchup 4-3 back on Feb. 9, 2020.
