Bulldogs finish up day one of the Green Wave Fall Classic

NEW ORLEANS – The UNC Asheville women's golf team finished up the first two rounds of the Green Wave Fall Classic on Monday in New Orleans.
The Bulldogs, on a 36-hole day on the course, posted a 32-over 608. Asheville began the day with a 14-over 302 before closing out Monday with an 18-over 306.
Asheville put together a consistent first round up-and-down its lineup. Madyson Gold, Phoebe Carles, Amber Capote, and Venecia Zaia all shot 2-over 74 in the first 18 holes. Some second-round highlights included Gold nearly matching her first-round score with a 3-over 75. One of the newest Bulldogs, Kayla Benge, trimmed four strokes off her first-round score of 8-over 80 with a 4-over 76 right behind Gold on for the top scores for Asheville in round two.
Finishing up the first day, Gold paces Asheville a 5-over 149, which is tied for 53rd on the individual leader board. Amber Capote (74-77-151) was up next checking in at 5-over. Carles (74-78-152) and Zaia (74-78-152) both finished the day at 8-over, while Benge (80-76-156) and Hailey Pendleton (80-80-160) finished up Monday's scores for the Bulldogs at 12-over and 16-over, respectively.
Asheville and the rest of the field will return to the course at 9 a.m. eastern time for the final round of the tournament. Follow along with live stats HERE.
