Women’s Golf opens 2022-23 season at the Green Wave Fall Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team will open its 2022-23 season this week at the Green Wave Fall Classic. The Classic will take place September 12-13 at the Bayou Oaks Golf Course in New Orleans.
Quick look back at last season – Asheville had one of its most successful seasons to date in 2021-22 as it advanced to the final four match-play round at the Big South Championship where it was eventually edged out by top-seeded Campbell, 3-2.
New year, new coach – One change for the Bulldogs this year is that they will be led by new Head Coach Ross Cash. Cash joins Asheville after spending the past four years leading the men's and women's golf programs at Tusculum.
About the 2022-23 Bulldogs – The Bulldogs will have a veteran-laden team on the course this season as they return six golfers from last season's team. Among the returners is Venecia Zaia, who became the first player in program history to earn All-Big South (Honorable Mention) honors last season.
About the Green Wave Classic field – UNC Asheville will be joined in New Orleans by 13 other programs. The other schools playing in New Orleans other than the Bulldogs include Tulane, Nebraska, Incarnate Word, Tulsa, Northern Colorado, Mercer, LSU, USF, Sam Houston State, Chattanooga, Seattle, Little Rock, and Central Arkansas.
How to Follow – The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. eastern time each day. Rounds one and two will occur Monday, followed by round three on Tuesday. Live stats can be followed throughout the tournament HERE.
