Women’s Soccer readies for a home match Sunday vs. South Carolina State

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will return home on Sunday to host South Carolina State at Greenwood Field in non-conference action. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
Last Time Out – Asheville dropped its first match of 2022 on Thursday as it was edged out by The Citadel, 2-1. With Thursday's result, the Bulldogs are now 1-1-1 on the 2022 campaign.
Match of Firsts – A bright spot for Asheville on Thursday was that two players achieved a pair of firsts. First, Anna Doane tallied her first career point thanks to an assist on the Bulldog goal. That goal was scored by Lindie Clark, which was her first of her collegiate career.
Tip of the hat to Taylor – Despite not tallying a point vs. The Citadel, Taylor Gardner enters Sunday's match second in the Big South in points scored with six points behind only Charleston Southern's Jenea Knight with nine points. Furthermore, her six points rank 22nd nationally in Division I women's soccer.
Home Field Advantage Building – Asheville will look to continue to build a home field advantage at Greenwood Field on Sunday. The Bulldogs, who won their home opener vs. VMI a week ago, have won three of their four home matches dating back to last season.
About South Carolina State – South Carolina State is still in search of its first win of the season as it brings an 0-2 record with it to Asheville. SCSU has dropped decisions to Stetson (6-0) and Charleston Southern (5-0) so far this fall.
Series Rewind vs. SCSU – Asheville is 10-2 all-time against South Carolina State with the lone setbacks occurring in 2010 and 2013.
