Women's Soccer Falls to USC Upstate in Season Finale

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Soccer fell to USC Upstate by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 29) in the regular season finale.

The teams played a close first half that did not see any goals, but saw Asheville out-shoot USC Upstate 7-6 and earn three corner kicks to Upstate's two.

Upstate would break the ice with the game's first goal in the 53rd minute, when Morgan Nelson scored her first of the season from Riley O'Bryan. The teams continued on trading runs through their offensive ends for the next 20 minutes, before the Spartans scored again in the 78th minute. Savannah Noll would score her second goal of the season unassisted to put the Spartans up 2-0. Upstate capped off the match with a third goal in the 81st minute, when Paige Armstrong scored her sixth of the year unassisted to bring the match to its final score.

Asheville totaled 10 shots in the match, including five on goal. Asheville also earned three corner kicks in the contest. Akari Kishida paced the Bulldogs with three shots in the contest, while Azalea Mihailovich and Lili Adams each had two shots. Shae Hassig, Jordan Schaetzly and Georgia Duke each also had one shot in the match. Gracie Murray made three stops between the pipes in the contest.
