Men’s Basketball to compete in MTE hosted by Georgia State

05.31.2022 | Men's Basketball

PRINCETON, N.J. – UNC Asheville Men's Basketball knows at least three games of its 2022-23 schedule, competing in a multi-team event hosted by Georgia State in November. In addition to facing the Panthers, the Bulldogs will face Eastern Kentucky and Texas A&M Commerce in a three-game round-robin tournament at the GSU Convocation Center from Nov. 18-20.

UNC Asheville comes off a 2021-22 season in which the Bulldogs won their first postseason win since 2011, topping Stephen F. Austin 80-68 in the College Basketball Invitational. Non-conference play was good to the Bulldogs last season, winning eight games prior to Big South play for just the second time in 14 seasons, tying the 2016-17 squad with best non-conference winning percentage (.615) since 2007-08 in the process.

As for the field, Georgia State is coming off a 2022 Sun Belt Conference Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Eastern Kentucky is under the guidance of fifth-year head coach A.W. Hamilton, while A&M Commerce will be in its first Division I season as a program.
