Probable Pitching Matchup

Last Time Out – Asheville picked up an 11-5 win at Elon on Saturday after dropping the first two games of the weekend set by scores of 6-3 and 5-2. With the victory, Asheville improved to 13-19 on the season.

Bacot Continues to Crush the Ball – A definite bright spot in the Bulldog batting order lately has been Dylan Bacot. Over the last 10 games, Bacot is hitting .405 with five doubles, nine RBI, and six runs scored. Bacot has also shown a patient eye at the plate with seven walks to boost his on-base percentage to .511 during the same stretch. Additionally, Bacot has not only been racking up the hits but also coming through when Asheville needs it the most as he has gone a perfect 7-for-7 with runners in scoring position in the last five games.

Scoring First = Success – A key in Asheville picking up its second straight non-league win on Tuesday might be its ability to score first. When the Bulldogs score first in 2022, they boast a record of 10-4. On the flip side, when its opponents score first Asheville is 3-15. Furthermore, when the Bulldogs get a lead in the mid to late innings they've done a stellar job in protecting it. Asheville is 9-1 when leading after six innings, 10-1 when leading after seven, and a perfect 12-0 when taking the lead into the ninth inning.

Among the Nation's Best at Turning Two – Coming into this week's play, the Bulldogs rank third nationally in double plays per game (1.06) and seventh in total double plays turned (34). Only New Mexico (42), New Orleans (40), Oregon (37), Baylor (36), George Mason (36), and Longwood (35) have turned more double plays than the Bulldogs in 2022.

About ETSU – ETSU, which brings a 20-11 record with it to Asheville on Tuesday, is definitely a team fueled by its offense. The Buccaneers have a team batting average of .303 and have out-homered their opponents 51-23 so far this season. Thanks in large part to the home run totals, ETSU ranks 10th nationally in slugging percentage (.526). On the pitching side, ETSU has a team ERA of 4.58 and its staff is averaging more than a strikeout per inning pitched (278 Ks in 273 innings).

Series Rewind vs. ETSU – Historically, the Buccaneers have held the edge against the Bulldogs winning 38 of the 65 all-time matchups. One of those 38 wins came earlier this season when ETSU hit a late home run to knock off the Bulldogs, 4-1
