ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team aims to continue its strong season on Saturday, hosting the SoCon's ETSU Bucs at the Asheville Racquet Club at 2:00 p.m.

Keeping it Rolling
Asheville has gotten off to one of its best starts in recent memory with a 7-1 record. The record through eight matches is the best since the 2018-19 team began 10-0. There have been only two matches that Asheville has conceded more than two points, and its lone loss came shorthanded 4-3 against a strong North Florida team.

Leading the Way
Every individual on the Bulldogs' squad has a winning record led by Leo Bierbaum who has been on a tear to start this season. The senior from Nurnburg, Germany is 5-2 at the No. 2 singles flight, having gone to the third set just once (in his lone loss). Bierbaum has twice recorded bagels (6-0) and is a combined 6-0 at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Bruno Serra has also had an impactful season, with a 7-1 individual record while Harry Thursfield is a perfect 5-0 at flights 2-3.

A look at the Bucs
ETSU has had an up and down spring thus far, posting a record of 6-4. The Bucs have played one Big South opponent so far, defeating Presbyterian by a score of 6-1 in Johnson City. The two teams did meet last year at ETSU, with the Bucs prevailing 5-2. Leo Bierbaum was able to secure one of the two team points in the match with a victory over Thiago Pernas. Most recently, ETSU topped Samford 5-2, and the Bucs will visit Wofford Friday before traveling to Asheville Saturday. While ETSU is just 2-5 at the No. 1 singles flight, they are 8-2 at the No. 5 flight, going a combined 11-5 at the No. 2 and 3 doubles flights.
